If you are looking for a full-service waterfront resort and marina that offers flexibility and convenience coupled with excellent customer service, look no further than Dover Bay Resort and Marina.

Owner Ralph Sletager, a Sandpoint native, has been successfully developing and managing real estate through his company, Waterfront Property Management, for more than four decades. Since 2008, Sletager’s Dover Bay Resort and Marina has been offering guests from both near and far a surreal retreat in Dover, Idaho. The four-season, full-service resort features well-accommodated vacation rentals and waterfront bungalows for groups and individuals eager to explore the area. The property offers one of the top restaurants in the area—Dish at Dover Bay—and one of the best marinas around, with a boat launch, gas dock, and seasonal and temporary moorage.

Based in Dover Bay, the retreat offers something for everyone, whether it’s sightseeing in one of their float planes, wake surfing on Lake Pend Oreille or taking advantage of the many other incredible attractions in the area; guests are sure to enjoy a stay at Dover Bay.

Nestled in a dramatic natural setting and located on Lake Pend Oreille, Dover Bay Resort and Marina includes more than 9 acres of parks and beaches, 9 miles of walking and biking trails which connect to the North Idaho Pathways and is just 3 miles from Downtown Sandpoint, where a multitude of art galleries, restaurants and retail outlets are ready to be discovered.

The property is distinct in that it features irreplaceable natural amenities, creating a rare opportunity to be part of a waterfront community. As Manager Matt Meneghini says, “Where else can you find a 285-acre community directly on the shores of a fantastic lake? The location of having the second largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi out your front door, a world-renowned ski mountain out your back window and the quaint friendly town of Sandpoint nearby is distinctive.”

According to Meneghini, Dover Bay is an easy weekend getaway for the second home buyer, with just a 90-minute drive from Spokane, 45 minutes to Coeur d’Alene and 30 minutes to the Canadian border.

“The natural beauty of the area that surrounds us is paramount to attracting tourists to the area,” he says. “We pride ourselves on the high level of service we provide the guest, along with excellent amenities including a salt-water pool and hot tub open year around.”

In addition to providing locals and visitors a haven unlike any other, they host community events, as well as weddings, on site throughout the year at The Homestead Barn. This year’s events include Concert with a Cause, with money raised benefiting a local high school student who was diagnosed with leukemia. In the fall, they partner with Washington Elementary School and the Washington School PTA, raising funds for the school and its activities. Throughout the year, they support other organizations by hosting dog walks and donating to other fundraising events. Annually, Dish at Dover Bay hosts the Festival at Sandpoint poster unveiling, which took place mid-July.

When it comes to what is most rewarding about the work they do, Meneghini says: “We get to see, talk to and work with people every day of the year. Even better, they are on vacation and enjoying themselves. It is great to see people have the time of their life after a healthy dose of Vitamin D or making turns in deep snow, only to see them again the next year and continue the conversation.”

Life is better at the lake!
