The Bird Aviation Museum and Invention Center educates visitors about the historic contributions of aviators and innovators who have helped create modern technology. The Bird Aviation Museum and Invention Center was founded by Dr. Forrest Bird, inventor of the medical respirator, and wife Pam in 2007. Located in Sagle about 17 miles southeast of Sandpoint off Sagle Road on Bird Ranch Road. The Lake Pend Oreille Idaho Club (LPOIC) sponsors two fishing derbies, one in the spring and one in the fall. The Lake Pend Oreille Idaho Club is a volunteer, non-profit organization formed in the mid 1940's, and its mission is to take an active role in protecting and enhancing Lake Pend Oreille and its fisheries. Revenue generated from derbies and membership fees stay in the area to fund projects to carry out the club's mission. In Sandpoint tickets are sold at North 40 Outfitters, Sandpoint Marine, and Alpine Sports.
