Summer Adventures

Summer is when Sandpoint comes alive with festivals, entertainment and endless outdoor activities. Hike and mountain bike local peaks; fish and boat Lake Pend Oreille; or pick huckleberries on the road to Schweitzer Mountain. The Festival at Sandpoint brings an eclectic mix of popular musicians to a weeklong celebration of music. Sidewalk sales pop up at local shops and patios are filled at restaurants and breweries as visitors and locals enjoy the warm summer sun. Golf a Jack Nicklaus signature golf course, attend a wine tasting event or relax on a beach – it’s all up to you.

Action Water Sports

Action Water Sports offers wakeboarding, waterskiing, and wakesurfing lessons as well as personalized lake tours. Sea doo (jet ski), stand up paddleboard, kayak and water sports equipment rentals. Alpine Shop

What started as a small ski rental shop to service the newly opened Schweitzer Ski Resort has grown into a year-round business of outfitting fun. Today, Alpine Shop is one of the largest full-service Marine and Snow Sport Outfits in the Inland Northwest. They have two retail locations: one in the heart of beautiful downtown Sandpoint, and the other in the village at Schweitzer Mountain Resort. Alpine Shop is a family-owned business with a staff whose knowledge and tenure is second to none. Bird Aviation Museum and Invention Center

The Bird Aviation Museum and Invention Center educates visitors about the historic contributions of aviators and innovators who have helped create modern technology. The Bird Aviation Museum and Invention Center was founded by Dr. Forrest Bird, inventor of the medical respirator, and wife Pam in 2007. Located in Sagle about 17 miles southeast of Sandpoint off Sagle Road on Bird Ranch Road. Open year-round Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday from mid-May to mid-October. Admission is free. For more information visit

Chafe 150 Grand Fondo

This June event is a timed one day 150, 80 or 30 mile bike ride presented by Sandpoint Rotary Club to support students with Autism. Visit for more information. 

Festival at Sandpoint

Held during the first week of August, the non-profit Festival at Sandpoint has hosted its internationally renowned summer concert series in a casual and relaxed atmosphere at Memorial Field, in Sandpoint, Idaho. The Festival is audience friendly. It is a customized concert experience without equal. You can feast on fabulous food and beverages on "Festival Street," or bring your own picnic basket and cooler from home. You can stretch out on a blanket, cruise in a lawn chair (bring your own or rent ours), sit in the grandstands or let loose in our dancing areas. Visit
